0069 -- spring is coming

And there I go again getting wrapped up in life and forgetting about this little blog of mine...things have been busy this month. We had some friends in town from North Carolina (see below), I've been working a bunch, I got tattooed, I gave up meat, and spring is surely springing.

Despite all the busy, we've been able to keep positive about all the change and how little down time we've been getting. I've been working on some wedding invites and some ice cream branding outside of regular work that has been really fun and has reminded me why I do what I do. I've been missing the fashion world here and there, but I'm sure this break is doing me good.

The weather here has finally changed (thank goodness)! There are little flower buds everywhere and the trees look like their starting to grow back their leaves. We still have many more weeks of rain, the forecast says rain until Friday at the moment...ugh!

Anyhow, here's some photos of the past few weeks:

0067 - the list

This whole not shopping this is getting to me. I'll admit it. It's been hard not to get myself a little something here or there and of course, I'm seeing everything I want. Spring is approaching and I am longing for shorter sleeves, less layers, and sunglasses!
I really blame the shopping craving on:

these AMAZING mules
this retro inspired swim suit
this pair of boyfriend denim
these awesome (!!!) spotted shorts
mmm sweaters
this funky sweater
forever in black (glitter)

PHEW! I'm a wanty lady! I have been trying to go through and clean out my closet and I now have to decide how to get rid of these goodies...I used to have an Etsy shop and I've seen some pretty good "shop my closet" Instagrams, but I'll have to do some more research. Got any good spots?

With the help of my dad's air miles I've booked myself a little trip back south to the desert leaving the husband at home so I can meet up with my gal pal Dawn! I am thrilled we are going back to the Ace for a few days!!

We've agreed that we have to do more than just drink (we have a tendency to just drink all our meals starting the moment we get there). I'm thinking I'll take her to Moortens Garden (you know the one from our wedding).

Anyhow it's sushi happy hour time for us. Update again soon!

0066 -- Liebster Award Q&A

My lovely blogger friend turned real life friend, Laura, has nominated me for a Liebster Award, now I'm not too familiar with that many blogs anymore and sadly I just haven't had a ton of time to get back into my online reading so I'm going to skip nominations, but these questions were just too fun and I can spare some time away from work!

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
this is tough! i really like a lot of places and i really don't know if i'm the settling down type...how about the 3 places i know i would like to have a little apartment:

2. What is your favourite thing about yourself?
i think i like that i know what i stand for. i like that i'm comfortable enough to stand up for what i believe in and not back down.
now if this question is about my looks i think i like my spidery old lady hands, filled with character!
3. Do you have any pets?
sure do! we have larry and cat (also known as white cat, whi whi, moo cat, ect)
4. What is your favourite makeup product you just can't live without?
i always wear a high spf tinted moisturizer and bright pink blush.

5. Favourite genre of music? Least favourite genre of music?
i really like a lot of things, but i would say i'm stuck in the 90's. i'm really not a fan of country. here's a few things i've listened to this week:

6. All time favourite movie?
reality bites and royal tenenbaums.

7. If you could only keep one vintage item that you own what would it be?
probably my fox fur trimmed full coat, she's a beaut!

8. Most memorable day/night out?
most memorable day would have to be our wedding! it was easily the most magical day ever!
the most memorable night out would have to be night we got into Paris and we wandered around the empty and freezing streets of Monmarte.

9. When was the last time you had a day that felt like 'The Best Day Ever'?
Saturday after going sledding and catching up with one of my dear friends from Esco who now lives up here in Portland.

10. Are you an early riser, or a night owl?
I'm a bit of both. I often wake up early thanks to the chirping of the cats, but I like naps so I can stay up late. I find I am most creatively productive at night.

11. If you won a competition that gave you the chance to spend a whole day with you idol, who would you pick? (It can be a style icon/musician/author/reality star etc)
Kathleen Hannah or Kim Gordon, they're both really amazing women.

0064 -- the kirby's

Yesh! This post is awfully late, but I've been busy lady and my motivations have been places other than my computer lately.
So how late is this post now...almost a month! Kirby and Katja came up from the warm sunny south (San Diego) to visit us for a weekend. We took them to eat, drink, walk the gorge, and eat some more. Instead of bore you with details, here's some photos!
This champagne drink was great from The Parish!

We had to get Katja some Voodoo Donuts!

Apparently a rock came tumbling down off the side of the waterfall and hit the bridge so we couldn't cross. You can almost see the hole it left! Mother Nature is crazy!
The Ladywife came on our adventures seeing at Stephen was working and 5 bodies in a car keeps it warmer than 4!
It was so windy we thought the Kirbys would fly off the side!

It was so much fun to have them up here and we can't wait to see them again (if it means waiting until August for their wedding)!!! <3 div="">

0063 - lady + maker

We've always known some pretty crafty and creative people. I find it hellishly inspiring to be around them, watch their moves, see what they're making, and of course I love getting to pick their brains to learn about their influences.

Over the weekend Jordan and I went over to see our friends Sam and Matt for some drinks and card games. While we were there we got to see their operation for Lady + Maker, their hand bent spoon rings and other awesome hand made home goods business, (I'm totally itching for an excuse to buy this frame). They're doing everything from inside the four walls of their lovely little loft and they are on fire! They're bending nightly, constantly creating, and loving each other throughout the whole process, talk about inspiring!

I have seen spoon rings before but had never heard about where the idea came from until I met Sam and Matt. Here's the short version background for the spoon ring: stories go that as far back as the 1600's servants who fell in love and wanted to get married would steal their employers silver to have it made into a ring for their engagement. It's like Robin Hood romance to me, LOVE!

Matt had made a ring for Sam awhile back and the idea had stuck with them. They're now taking a little piece of their love story and sharing it with the rest of us. These two are doing everything from inside the four walls of their lovely loft after they get off work and on weekends (talk about a labor of love)! They're finding their silver plated spoons (and forks) from various antique and vintage shops from around here in Portland!

We're so thankful to know these creative folks and I'm so excited to wearing my dingle hopper ring every day! Go check out their adventures on their Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. So go help out some awesome DIY folks here!

0062 -- visit from the folks

It's taken me a while to update since we had my folks in town and then the day after they left I went right back to work. We had a lovely visit with them and I can't wait for them to come back!! My folks arrived the day after x-mas. Jordan and I hadn't been sleeping so well so we decided to get up super early and go watch the sunrise at a local park.

We had also been having some issues with our kitty, Larry David. He was showing us signs of being sick and it felt very similar to when we lost our other kitty Izzy. Fortunately, he's feeling better and it seems to just have been a bug. Phew!
Watched the sunrise and the sunset all in the day! Glorious!

Mom had a few places that she just had to go, and Powell's Books was one of them. It's an entire city block and probably 3 or 4 stories high. They have everything and then some!!
We also took my mum on four mile hike through the Hoyt Arboretum. It was so pretty and I can't wait to do more hikes there when it's a bit warmer!

We also had to walk mom through the Lone Fir Cemetery. How lovely is this headstone for a husband and wife?

We also go our first home visit with baby Phelyn!!!

And she almost got her first bite of cookie butter!

My folks had downloaded bejeweled and by the time they left the four of us were all addicted to it!

New Years Eve was quiet and fun. My dad made us all chicken wings, the CatCamp came over with Stephen's dad, and we all passed out before midnight!!

Update again soon!
